Modest Medusa just got funded as well...now for every thousand or so that gets contributed, he'll add three pages of story.

I got this one more for the wife than me...it looks like it was custom made for her...but I started reading the comic online and damn...I think she may have to fight me for it. :)

And wow...Sullivans Sluggers may turn out to be the prettiest book on my shelf...I love that he's donating to worthy causes every extra $1000 or so. Really nice touch.

100 Souls

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/161 ... en-russell
"Eyes are the window to the soul. This group of work is about presenting 100 of them. 100 drawings capturing the essence of 100 souls." - Steven Russell Black

Steven Russell Black, Hart Rieckhof and NSNart have collaborated to bring you the first volume of the BLACK MARKET series. 100 SOULS will be a 6" X 7" hard cover book collecting all 100 drawings of the SOULS. It will also include 9 ASCENDED SOUL paintings done just for this book. There will also be notes/comments about each SOUL from Steven.

We will print up enough books to cover all pledges and a small percentage over to ensure everyone gets a nice book. This book will have ONE PRINTING. And the print run will be determined by you, the backers.
I really like these pencil-rendered drawings....very soulful.

There are a couple originals still available for sale, $22 each. If you buy one you can get a notation in the book that it's "In the Collection of...." and your name:
http://www.nsnart.com/ArtistGalleryRoom ... istId=1517

I'm supporting this at the $45 level & will get an original sketch in my HC.

Tome

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/44flood/tome-0

This one blew past it's funding goal on day 1.....it's now truly a "pre-order this spiffy art book" campaign.
TOME is an annual anthology in an oversized format showcasing world-class artists as they explore a single theme using the comic book, painting, and music mediums. And by oversized we're talking big, around 11x17" and 180 pages! That size will let you experience art and sequential storytelling in a way that would be almost impossible outside of standing in front of the original work itself.

[UPDATE 6/25 3:43pm] Because of your tremendous support today, TOME will now be upgraded to a massive 12x18"!!! Thank you!!!

This year's TOME will focus on the theme of VAMPIRISM. Modern popular culture has shown us all kinds of depictions of vampires, from the silly to the subdued. The artists in TOME will each take 3-5 pages to explore what we think is a unique and relevant take on vampirism as a whole, including the misuse of power and the objectification and exploitation of others. And at the conclusion of each artist's contribution, they'll have a one-page interview conducted by another artist to continue their artistic exploration.

The artists in TOME so far are:

Ashley Wood (artist, writer) - Lore, Hellspawn, 3A Toys
Ben Templesmith (artist, writer) - 30 Days of Night, Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse, Fell
Bill Sienkiewicz (artist, writer) - Elektra: Assassin, Stray Toasters
Chet Zar (fine artist, SFX artist) - Tool music videos, Hellboy I & II motion pictures
David Stoupakis (artist) - Korn album cover artist
Edith Lebeau (artist)
George Pratt (artist, writer) - Enemy Ace: War Idyll, Sandman, Wolverine: Netsuke
Guillermo Rigattieri (fine artist)
Kasra Ghanbari (writer, art agent) - MONOCYTE, Drawing the Line Again Anthology
Matthew Bone (fine artist)
menton3 (artist, writer, musician) - ZvR, Silent Hill, MONOCYTE, Saltillo
Richard Walters (singer, songwriter, musician)
Riley Rossmo (artist, writer) - Proof, Green Wake, Rebel Blood
Scott Radke (fine artist) - Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland
Steve Niles (writer) - 30 Days of Night, Criminal Macabre

New incentive:
Getting a FREE sketch card is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1) Get a friend to make a pledge to the project (Minimum $5)
2) After they have pledged, have them send me a message or comment stating that they pledged/heard about the project from YOU.
3) You get a FREE hand drawn sketch card from Steven Russell Black.
Here's the deal:
1) Pledge $25 to get a copy of the HC.
2) Leave a comment that I can see that I'm the one that sent you their way.
3) I will rebate you $5, so you're getting the HC for only $20. (I'm willing to pop $5 for the sketch card, I want to support this campaign & get it funded.)

This is by Jeff Moy. I haven't decided what level I'll support this at. Jeff does great work and I'm looking forward to seeing him get this funded.

For fans of Amy Reeder, she's doing a creator owned book:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/121 ... comic-book
Eve has an imagination that’s more than active—it can be downright dangerous! Working late at the costume super-store Halloween Land, she gets lost in her own thoughts until something goes bump in the night... The rubber masks and plastic novelties are coming to life, and Eve must face ghosts, goblins, and gorilla suits made real!

HALLOWEEN EVE is a 40-page (32 story pages plus other content) full-color comic, due out in October 2012 to celebrate Halloween. It's a stand-alone, self-contained tale of magic and adventure. It's geared toward teen and adult audiences.

Talked to Jeff Moy at SDCC. I'm getting the HC, my debate is whether I want to also get the sketchbook + a sketchcard too.

This guy's art is fantastic! If you missed v1, you can double up & get both v1 & v2 as part of this campaign.
reMIND is an all ages sci-fi about faith, underwater lizard-men and brain transplantation. I was inspired by comic artists in the 90's when I refined my drawing style and then was influenced by Miyazaki's movies and storytelling over the last decade.
Even if you don't buy the HC, I'd encourage you to check it out & read it on-line for free:

I opted for the sketchbook/sketchcard route. Hopefully it'll get funded. Looks like a good one...

Thanks for the link to reMind...totally picking that one up as well.

Heck...I may not need to buy a book from an actual store anymore! :)
