July Sales Figures:
176 12.25 $3.99 DC Mighty Crusaders 1 9,361
John, I gotta figure that with standard attrition (not to mention the $3.99 price point), we should see the Red Circle titles continue their downward sprial down the porcelain punchbowl of sales figures.
I just can't believe that a JMS-launched known quantity like the Red Circle line could fail! (mock shock)
Then we had the lacklustre performance of his Brave & The Bold.
Remains to be seen on Wonder Woman and Superman, but I'll put big money on Superman taking a long walk (ha!) off a short pier.
2 years max for JMS at DC (total) if these numbers continue. Don't you think?

Technically, the Mighty Crusaders most likely will not get canceled. It was solicited as a six issue miniseries. But with the sales we've been seeing on the Red Circle titles, I would expect the characters to only show up in established titles and not in any other Red Circle titles for a while. I could see the Shield fitting in with the JSA for example.
My concern is seeing titles launch below half of what had been the "danger zone" level of 20,000 units just a few years ago. Clearly that "danger zone" has dropped much lower over at DC in the past few years. This goes to the line of reasoning I've been putting out there for a number of years that it doesn't really matter how the overall sales are (the "forest" if you will) if the individual titles (the actual "trees" in that forest) are dying.
