Comic Book Page Best of 2016
DC:
Favorite Series (New or continuing) Aquaman
Favorite Single Issue or Story Arc- Superman #7 (Day at the Fair)
Favorite Creator (Writer/Artist/etc) Dan Abnett
Book you wish more people read- Aquaman
Book you wish they would publish- an old school Catwoman book instead of the mass murderer, crime cartel character we have been getting for the last few years.
Marvel:
Favorite Series (New or continuing) Darth Vader, to my great surprise
Favorite Single Issue or Story Arc Invincible Iron Man #1, surprise me again
Favorite Creator (Writer/Artist/etc) Kieron Gillen
Book you wish more people read- Ms Marvel
Book you wish they would publish- A good ol Steve Rogers Captain America punching bad guys and saving the day series
Image:
Favorite Series (New or continuing) Manifest Destiny
Favorite Single Issue or Story Arc- Huck
Favorite Creator (Writer/Artist/etc) Mark Millar
Book you wish more people read- Manifest Destiny
Book you wish they would publish- Rat Queens, I may get my wish because I saw a new issue in the online solicits.
Other Publishers:
Favorite Series (New or continuing) Angel City (Oni)
Favorite Single Issue or Story Arc Klaus (Boom)
Favorite Creator (Writer/Artist/etc) Brian Wood
Book you wish more people read- Motor Girl by Terry Moore
Book you wish they would publish- anything by Thom Zahler
Miscellaneous:
Best All Ages title- Superman (DC) or Bandette (Dark Horse)
Favorite Comic Television Show
Best Other (trade, hardcover, periodical or book) Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu Omnibus vol 1
Highlight of 2016- Rebirth, not every title was a home run but it shows that DC is trying to improve things. I will say if it wasn’t for DCBS the double shipping of so many titles would be to much
Prediction for 2017- That as the prices go up I’ll be reading more on sale digital comics and more of my back issues purchases.
How many comics do you read each week (average) 25, Much of that comes from trades or back issues I have purchased.
John, I want to thank you and your crew for all the hard work that goes into the Weekly Comic Spotlight and all the other episodes that you put out. Hope you all have a Happy New Year.
