This is the place to discuss the episodes of the Comic Book Page podcast, the Comic Book Page website or pretty much anything else of interest to the Comic Book Page community...
Apparently if you snoozed, you lose-d on that $1 Detective Comics deal...I think someone at Tanga woke up and said "Oops! We should probably shut that code down now!"
I'm guessing/hoping they'll honor the discount, but will keep you posted if they don't.
So wow...at the end of the day I ended up ordering:
Aquaman <- was getting
Wonder Woman <- was getting
Justice League <- was not getting
Detective Comics <- was getting in trade/HC
Batman <- Was getting in trade/HC
Dark Knight <- was getting, stopped, then picked up again
Total cost was around $70. 72 issues. Retail would have been $228. Even cooler (and this isn't a slam on DCBS at all) I'll get 'em in the mail long before the monthly box shows up! I can actually be conversant on books I read now!
I'm getting the various $3.99 books & jumping back on Wonder Woman & Justice League.
Justice League $13.99
Action Comics $11.99
Batman $11.99
Wonder Woman $12.99
That's 48 comics with a cover price of $179.52 for a total cost of $45.96 with the 5OFF50NOW coupon.
Less than a buck an issue and a savings of 74.4% off cover. That's a great deal!
I just ordered JL & Batman for $26 - thanks, Bob!
So is there a way to figure out when your first issue will be? It says "8-14 weeks to receive your first issue." So am I probably safe if I leave them off my August DCBS order? Has anyone here used this website before/know if it's usually closer to 8 or 14 for comics?

I stopped ordering from DCBS the next order after I subscribed, and that worked out. I think one of the books had one duplicate, but the other worked out perfectly. In this case when I fill out my September order (September already?) I will not order the books I subscribed to with this deal and I expect for the most part my DCBS will stop the month before my subscription begins.

Thanks, Boshuda. Once the subscription kicks in, how close to the Weds. sale date does the issue usually come?
Also, can you cancel a subscription in midstream. Ex, if i read Scott Snyder & Greg Capulo are going to be replaced by writer/artist Rob Leifeld, can I stop the subscription and get a partial refund?

I'm afraid I can't help you with the release date question. I really have no real clue of the passage of time in general, so I can't even guess when it comes in relative to the proper release day. Plus my regina pile is taller than my home. I really don't pay attention to release day in general anymore.
I've also never looked into cancelling my subscription. The book comes directly from DC, and the subscription expiring notice came from DC not Tanga, so I would expect the refund to follow DC's official policy. However, considering these subscriptions are half of what the DC price is, I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't cancel at all.
Tanga backed out of that $1.00 for Detective comics thing. Looks like I'm not going to be getting 'Tec after all.
Hi there,
Ugh, this is embarrassing.
First, let me thank you for ordering Detective Comics using the BATMANROCKS coupon code.
Unfortunately, that code was set up incorrectly, as it was supposed to take an additional $1 off your subscription order, not $11.99.
We have refunded your order for Detective Comics. We’re really sorry this happened, and while we can’t fulfill your order, we would like to offer you the opportunity to get the Detective Comics you wanted at a lower-than-anywhere-the-world deal.

and enter coupon code BATMAN3OFF to take $3 off the already-low price.
I'm not surprised they did that. But you still don't want it? With that coupon it brings it down to only $9.99 for a full year. Not one dollar -- but still pretty darn good.

It's not an "automatic buy", I had dropped this title for a reason.
That said, they are bringing on a new creative team, so maybe giving Layman a try would not be a bad thing.
