I was thinking about 2012 goals (not resolutions) related to comics.

Besides the overall goal of buying comics that I enjoy reading, my other goals are:

1) Go to more than one comic book convention a year!!!

2)Related to the first goal, focus on a couple Bronze or Silver age runs to try to complete. I have been focusing on trades and hardcovers over the past few years, but I decided that when I go to shows, part of the fun is looking for older back issues.

Originally, I thought about Amazing Spider-man but now I am thinking Batman and Detective Comics from the Bronze age. I am a HUGE Batman fan so that is probably more inline with my long-term interests (although I do love old Spider-man comics). I think I am going to start with Batman #217, since that is considered the start of the Bronze Age.

3) Although I am focusing on back issues, try to fill holes in my DC Archives collection.

great topic. For me it looks like:

*significantly reduce the number of moderns I keep
*for new stuff, read what I buy when I buy it, don't buy more until I'm caught up (this will be very tough)
*fill a few more holes in my FF 1-100 run
*close out FF up to 300
*Avengers 6 and 7, which will give me Avengers 1-129
*Actually start reading some of these amazing back issues I've been buying!

I have a few:

As a creator:
1) Devote some time every single day to working on my craft. Whether it's working on a page, sketching. writing plots, etc. Sounds silly, I know...you SHOULD be doing this anyway, but often the world gets in the way, you get lazy, etc. This year I refuse to let it.

2) Get more active within my local comic community. Did my first actual LCS signing/event last month and had fun. Tough when you're alongside greats like Mark Dos Santos, Raven Gregory and Tony Parker, but I managed to actually sell something, which felt great! I'm hoping to do more of these down the road.

3) Get two books out this year. Possibly three, as Flint has begun work on the 5th issue of Thugs!

4) Do my first print. I've always seen myself as a writer first and an artist second. The more I do of my own work, the more I see my art improving, and the more others tell me it's getting better. I'm hoping I'll be able to do something worth printing on good paper with color and actually not feel bad asking money for this year.

As a fan:

1) Collect all those trades of the Tick. I loved the cartoon. Loved the show. Never read the book. Gonna rectify that in 2012.

2) Start reading some Zenescope. They always have a big presence locally (AZ) here, and Raven's a local.

3) Every year I try and find an independent publisher and throw as much support as I can their way. Last year it was GG Studios and I've LOVED like 80% of their output. This year I'm going to try and find another to add to the mix.

4) Do a couple more conventions. Again, probably local ones like Tucson and Amazing.

I have a pretty simple goal for 2012, to read and review 52 graphic novels. Doesnt sound like a very tall order until you throw a few Omnibuses into the mix.
